The spatial layout at ground level is derived from the ripple effect after throwing 3 programmatic elements into the water. The formation of these ripples determines the outline of the building. By extruding this outline a simple building volume is created that becomes a natural element along the lakeshore. At ground level two large cuts in the volume are made, to provide wide views towards the lake. To create terraces for the hotel rooms, the façade is set back at the third floor. Upon that, the façade is lowered towards the lake, to create views towards the lake for the hotel guest, while maintaining a physic barrier towards the road in the back. The façade will be a combination of glass and untreated Western red cedar. The ageing effect of the wood due time and climate will enhance the natural feeling of the building.

A supported roof, consisting of circles spans like a huge umbrella over the building. By doing this, we transferred the surface of the lake during rain to the roof of the building in order to provide shelter against sun and rain. This has resulted in an interesting paradox. To strengthen the effect of a water surface on top of the building the fabric hold by the circles will be light translucent. During dusk and night the building will light up the environment and function as a strong focal point for the yachts that return home.
